ADOPT-A-SENIOR
We match a volunteer who provides a box of groceries once a month with an income qualified senior, alleviating the decisions many seniors must face between buying food or needed medications.
ELDERLY CONTACT HELP ORGANIZATION (ECHO)
Do you or someone you know need a friendly voice to give you a daily telephone reassurance call? ECHO is a program designed to give daily telephone reassurance to senior citizens, handicapped, or the homebound. The purpose is to check on their “well-being” and to keep in touch with the world.
Daily contact with seniors and the homebound takes the fear out of being alone. Meaningful calls provide clients with referrals that assist them in remaining independent in their own home wherever possible. If contact has not been successful by telephone, ECHO personnel will call family and/or friends that have been referred to us. If they don’t know where the client is, we will then check the hospitals, doctor's offices, senior centers, etc. If the client still cannot be found, someone from the office or a police officer will do a wellness check by physically going to the client’s home and determine what is wrong and will render whatever assistance is needed. The ECHO program eases the concern of friends and family who may find it difficult to maintain a consistent reliable contact.
ECHO volunteers will:
Call the elderly on a daily basis (Monday-Friday).
Determine if the client is safe and well.
Identify special assistance needs.
Provide reassurance.
Call the ECHO office daily to report whom they do or do not make contact with.
Office staff provides:
Daily follow-up calls.
Individual pairing of volunteer and client to develop a trusting and dependable relationship.
Help facilitate immediate aid when needed.
Will make calls if the caller is not able to.
PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE
We provide assistance to qualified individuals of all ages to access pharmaceutical company Patient Assistance Programs. Eligibility depends on each pharmaceutical company’s guidelines. We act as an advocate in conjunction with the physician and the manufacturer to obtain prescribed medications that may otherwise be unaffordable.
REPRESENTATIVE PAYEE
We assist individuals who receive Social Security by paying their bills and budgeting their money. This program complies with Social Security Administration requirements and guidelines, and is available throughout Idaho.
SENIOR MEDICARE PATROL (SMP) & MEDICARE IMPROVEMENTS FOR PATIENTS AND PROVIDERS ACT (MIPPA)
SMP empowers and assists Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud, errors, and abuse. We provide assistance with choosing Medicare health plans, Medicare savings programs, and prescription enrollment. We also serve as a resource center for grantees of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA).
Save Money on Your Medicare and Prescription Drug Expenses:
MIPPA grantees specifically help low-income seniors and persons with disabilities to apply for two programs that help pay for their Medicare costs:
The Medicare Part D Extra Help/Low-Income Subsidy (LIS/Extra Help), which helps pay for the Part D premium and reduces the cost of prescriptions at the pharmacy.
The Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs), which help pay for Medicare Part B.
MIPPA grantees also provide Part D counseling to Medicare beneficiaries who live in rural areas, and are tasked to promote Medicare’s prevention and wellness benefits.
